Preserving older ships that are still in use is a complex and expensive business. The National Maritime Museums offers economical subsidies to owners of historically valuable ships.

The subsidies are intended to stimulate the preservation of the cultural-historical elements of these ships. A grant from the National maritime Museums is normally only a small part of the total cost.

Subsidies can be applied for by the owners of ships that are listed by the National Maritime Museums, or for ships that are likely to be listed.
